“Always say yes to the present moment…surrender to what it is. Say ‘yes’ to life – and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you.”
Eckhart Tolle
2019 has been a whirlwind of a year for me. I got a new title (a promotion I’d been working towards for almost a year), a new boss, my partner and I decided to move in together, my partner then lost her job and got a new one half-way across the country, we decided to go together and I took a giant leap in founding my own consulting service based in Colorado Springs, CO. Wow. I need a drink after just reading all that.
And yet, I am more excited than ever to have a little control over my career path, my day-to-day, and my life overall. The birth of Wonder Warrior Consulting services came almost overnight – but the groundwork for the services we provide have been built over decades of watching, reading, studying and learning from some of the highest functioning non-profit organizations out there. The resources I pull from have been tried and tested over years at organizations serving students and families, serving political think tanks and lobbying groups, and helping individuals find their own work balance. I’ve spoken with colleagues who had been devising their own businesses for months (or years) before taking the leap as well as others who had been in non-profit and education for decades before pivoting to self-management. I am indebted to their guidance and support (#womensupportingwomen!).
I’m definitely a little scared of some of the unknown here – Will I do this independent work long-term? Will it develop into more of a side-hustle? What is my core mission? What vision do I hope to achieve? – Yet, through that uncertainty, I’m equally thrilled to have a space to build all of my own professional development into. This space is one for me to harness and define my skill sets, my dream job, and my core purpose. And along that route, my hope is to find a way to partner with you to infuse wellness practices into your work and life, streamline inefficient processes, and have some fun while we’re at it!
For years, I have been trying to develop my professional self while fitting into the mold of an existing organization. And I credit much of my development to those places. But the launch of this company means to define for myself, exactly how my mission and objectives come through – What a true privilege.
My personal mission, and that of Wonder Warrior Consulting, is to provide opportunities for people and organizations to improve themselves, to identify efficiencies and gaps in their processing and documentation practices, and to authentically and equitably serve when the call for help is lifted.
I hope you’ll join me as I take this leap into the wonderful world of consulting and business ownership. May we learn from each other and champion each other into a more prosperous future.
